LNER and Network Rail have won the prestigious NRHA Arch Company Award for Urban Heritage at a recent online ceremony. Building Consultancy and Architecture practice AHR led the design and carried out contract administration and project management services for the award-winning scheme, which involved the relocation of the ticket office and the creation of new retail spaces within the Grade II Listed Berwick-upon-Tweed Railway Station.
The award recognises the project's success in ensuring high-quality upkeep and improvement of a significant railway station, maintaining the historic environment in a manner which is consistent with modern passenger requirements.
The Arch Company Award is one of 10 annual awards from the NRHA which recognise the important restoration and re-use of our rail built environment. The NRHA is the only awards body dedicated to rewarding and encouraging best practice in the restoration and maintenance of our railway heritage.
