Description

The Landi Company Ltd. offers a full range of textile conservation services for museums, historic houses, churches, military organisations and individual clients, both locally and nationally.

Our conservators have extensive experience with a range of textile objects, delivering practical and sensitive solutions to meet budget requirements. The company handles a variety of objects, from the very small to the incredibly large; tapestries, embroideries, costume and costume accessories, upholstered furniture and chair covers, window curtains and pelmets, altar frontals, ecclesiastical vestments, lace and white-work, painted textiles, banners, and the textile elements of state beds.

The Landi Company’s services include condition assessments and surveys, interventive treatment, collections care and management, IPM, and preparation for display, mounting and storage.
The company has two fully equipped workshops. Treatment options available include, but are not limited to, wet cleaning, solvent cleaning, stitched supports, adhesive treatments, mounting and storage.

Operating at Burghley since 1992, The Landi Company was established in 2008. The company is part of the Burghley Conservation and Restoration Group which comprises a number of conservation businesses based at Burghley House. The managing director is a Fellow of IIC (International Institute of Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works), a member of Icon, an accredited member of BAFRA as Textile Specialist and appears on the Conservation Register operated by Icon (Institute for Conservation). Aside from its commercial activity, the company hosts conservation students on placement from university and on voluntary work experience.
