Description
Storm is a family-run company, with 20 years’ experience specialising in the manufacture and installation of handcrafted bespoke secondary glazing for listed, classic and historic properties nationwide.
Our specialist team of engineers individually manufacture all secondary glazed units by hand. They are able to replicate the varying features of historic primary windows, regardless of shape, using our hand-crafted techniques and accurate to help reproduce the idiosyncrasies of the original window. We are continually developing our products, using engineering expertise, in order to seamlessly and sympathetically work with the fabric of the original building, without detracting from its unique character.
With mounting demands on listed property owners along with ever increasing conservation regulations and requirements, the need for secondary glazing is even more apparent. We aim to continue to evolve secondary glazing to be an integral part of your historic property whilst conserving the character of your home.
Our clients range from private homeowners to organisations such as English Heritage, the National Trust, Historic Scotland and Cadw.
The way we work
We have our own dedicated team of surveyors who work nationwide, offering a free consultation service. This initial survey ensures we fully understand your requirements and therefore offer the most appropriate secondary glazing products to suit your primary windows and retain their operation. Our surveyors also carry out the installations of our secondary glazing, allowing continuity of service from start to finish of your project, and helping achieve a trusted working relationships with our customers.
To enable us to maintain and control quality of our products and services, our secondary glazing is only available directly from ourselves and all of our team are employed by Storm Windows. From initial contact with our sales and estimating representatives in our office, through to production in our workshop and finally the installation, all orders are dealt with solely by our in-house team, who work closely together to deal with your enquiries and manage the progression of your order.
Because we manufacture each individual product ourselves, we are able to make units which are; out-of-square, shaped, arched or curved, and suitable for many different types of windows, including sash, casement and York sliders.
We recognise the increasing pressure on listed property owners to meet tighter planning regulations, along with ever-increasing conservation regulations and requirements, which is why our bespoke secondary glazing is even more important.
The system we use makes the visual impact minimal, both internally and externally, whilst helping to cut draughts from ageing primary windows, considerably improving thermal efficiency and providing noise reduction.
Our clients range from private homeowners to organisations such as English Heritage, the National Trust, The Landmark Trust, Historic Scotland and Cadw.
